Colorado Springs is one of the larger U.S. cities with no municipal trash collection at all. The city operates an open private hauler market: residents choose their own provider from licensed companies including Waste Connections, Apex Waste Solutions, Infinite Disposal, Republic Services, SOCO Waste, and others. Bulk pickup rules, fees, and options vary by hauler. This guide explains what that means practically, how to handle large items with each major provider, and every free or low-cost disposal alternative in the Colorado Springs metro.

Unlike Denver, Colorado Springs does not provide municipal waste collection. The City of Colorado Springs does not pick up bulk items, does not run a transfer station for residents, and does not operate seasonal cleanup events. For large items, you have three paths: your private hauler, private paid junk removal, or self-haul to a licensed transfer station or landfill.
The good news: competition between haulers means pricing is often lower than in cities with monopoly franchises, and some haulers include bulk pickup in their standard plans. The first step is always to call your hauler and ask.
Colorado Springs residents choose from several licensed private haulers. Each sets its own bulk pickup policy:
· Waste Connections: (719) 591-5000. Serves a significant portion of the Springs. Bulk pickup available as a scheduled add-on; call for current rates and terms.
· Infinite Disposal: (719) 999-0500 / infinitedisposal.com. Standard service includes weekly 96-gallon cart plus 3 additional bags. Bulk beyond this requires pre-payment; call office to arrange.
· Apex Waste Solutions: (719) 999-0500. Bulk pickup policies vary; call for details.
· SOCO Waste: (719) 357-8855 / socowaste.com. Two extra bags per week included; additional bags $1.50 each. Additional bulk pickup: $45 return charge for pre-scheduled service. Electronics not accepted.
· Republic Services: Bulk pickup available to customers; call for current schedule and pricing.
Pro tip: Some haulers include a small number of free large-item pickups in their annual service contract. It costs nothing to call and ask before assuming you’ll need to pay.
El Paso County HHW Facility: (719) 520-7878. This is the primary resource for hazardous waste disposal in Colorado Springs. Accepts paint, motor oil, batteries, chemicals, pesticides, and electronics.
Colorado PaintCare: Leftover paint can be dropped off at participating retailers across Colorado Springs. Colorado is a PaintCare state. Find drop-off sites at paintcare.org.
Rocky Top Resources: Accepts yard waste drop-off ($10 on Saturdays). Not a free facility but useful for brush and large yard waste loads.
Auto parts stores (AutoZone, O’Reilly, Advance Auto Parts) accept used motor oil and lead-acid batteries free.
· Salvation Army Colorado Springs — free pickup for usable furniture and large items. Schedule at satruck.org.
· Habitat for Humanity of Colorado Springs ReStore — free pickup for qualifying donations of furniture, appliances, and building materials.
· Goodwill of Colorado — drop-off locations throughout Colorado Springs metro.
· Buy Nothing Colorado Springs groups (Facebook) — active across Springs neighborhoods, excellent for individual items.
Because Colorado Springs has no free city bulk pickup, paid junk removal or self-haul is more frequently necessary here than in cities with municipal programs.
