Fayetteville runs a city-operated Pay-As-You-Throw system with 1 free curbside bulky-waste pickup per year plus 4 free Transfer Station drop-offs. Bentonville uses Republic Services with appointment-based bulk pickup (fees may apply). Bentonville uses Republic Services with appointment-based bulk pickup. Below are the options most residents qualify for.
Fayetteville curbside bulky-waste pickup
Free, 1/yearFayetteville provides 1 free curbside bulky-waste pickup per year for single-family, duplex, and townhome residents. Up to 5 items in one category (furniture OR appliances OR brush).
Eligibility: Single-family, duplex, townhome with city trash carts. Apartments, condos, multi-unit complexes (3+ units) excluded.
How to schedule: Call (479) 575-8398 to confirm eligibility and book. Items at curb by 5:00 AM, no earlier than 12 hours prior.
Freon: Refrigerators and freezers require a separate Freon recovery fee form before scheduling.
Fayetteville Transfer Station drop-offs
Free, 4/yearFayetteville solid waste customers receive 4 free Transfer Station drop-offs per year, up to 1,340 lbs per trip. The most flexible free option for residents with vehicles.

Eligibility: Households in active partner communities. Ask your property manager.
Status: Onboarding partner properties throughout 2026.
Fayetteville provides 1 free curbside bulky-waste pickup per year for single-family homes, duplexes, and townhomes with trash carts. Apartments, condos, multi-unit complexes (3+ units), mobile homes, and businesses are excluded.
How to schedule: Call the Recycling and Trash Collection office at (479) 575-8398 before placing anything at the curb. Confirm your items are eligible first.
Rules: Up to 5 items in one category only (choose one: furniture, appliances, or brush/tree limbs). Items out by 5:00 AM on collection day, no earlier than 12 hours prior. Place 5–6 feet from the curb. Not directly under power lines or within 4 feet of other objects. Do not place in alleys or on side streets.
Appliances with Freon: Require a separate Freon recovery fee and online form before pickup can be scheduled.
NOT accepted in bulky-waste pickup: Tires, electronics, hazardous materials, cardboard boxes full of debris, cast iron tubs, ceramic toilets and sinks, railroad ties, tree stumps, treated lumber, concrete slabs. Microwaves are also excluded from appliance category.
Additional paid pickups beyond the 1 free are available (up to 5 items in one category) at a fee. A rescheduling fee applies for missed appointments.
Fayetteville residents who are solid waste customers receive 4 free Transfer Station drop-offs per year, up to 1,340 lbs per trip.

Fayetteville operates a Pay-As-You-Throw program: residents are charged based on cart size. Extra landfill bags outside the cart (or with the lid open even an inch) incur a fee per bag. Each account receives 4 free landfill bag waivers per year.
Routes run Monday–Thursday; out by 5:00 AM. Find your day at fayetteville-ar.gov using the My Fayetteville Services tool.
New in 2026: Biweekly curbside food waste pickup launched March 2026. Registration open at fayetteville-ar.gov.
Free paper shredding events 2026: April 11 and October 3, 2026, 8 AM–noon at 1405 Happy Hollow Rd. Limit 5 copy-paper-size boxes per person.
Bentonville’s large item pickup is handled by Republic Services on an appointment basis. Fees may apply depending on item type and quantity. Bentonville carts should be curbside by 6:30 AM on collection day, wheels facing the curb, at least 3 feet of clearance on each side.
Yard waste: Drop off at Bentonville’s Compost Facility or arrange yard waste cart service through Republic Services.
Benton County Hazardous Waste Collection holds an annual event for paint, batteries, chemicals, and other HHW. Check bentoncountyar.gov for current dates.
Electronics: Take to the Benton County Solid Waste facility. Fayetteville residents can also contact the Recycling and Trash Division at (479) 575-8398 for e-waste guidance.
Auto parts stores (AutoZone, O’Reilly, Advance Auto) accept used motor oil and batteries free year-round at both cities.
