How we handle your information when you use Freemoval.

Freemoval is a social impact program of LoadUp Technologies, LLC. This privacy policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit freemoval.org or interact with our services. We’ve tried to write it in plain language. We collect very little information from visitors to freemoval.org. We don’t sell your data. We don’t use cookies for advertising. The main ways we collect information are: (1) when you contribute through Stripe to fund a subsidized pickup, Stripe processes your payment information; (2) when you contact us through the contact form, we receive your email and message; (3) basic server logs that record visits to the site for security and analytics purposes.
Information you provide directly. When you contact us through the contact form on freemoval.org, we receive your email address, name (if provided), and the contents of your message. We use this only to respond to your inquiry and follow up if needed.
Payment information for contributions. When you make a contribution to fund a subsidized pickup, you’re directed to a Stripe-hosted checkout page. Stripe collects and processes your payment information (credit card number, billing address, email) according to Stripe’s privacy policy. We receive only limited transaction information from Stripe (amount, transaction ID, email) to confirm contributions and provide receipts.
Automatically collected information. When you visit freemoval.org, our hosting provider (Netlify) and any analytics tools we use automatically collect standard web log information, including: IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent on pages, referring website, and approximate geographic location (city/region level). This information is used for security monitoring, site analytics, and improving the user experience.
Cookies and similar technologies. Freemoval uses minimal cookies. We may use cookies to remember your preferences (e.g., navigation menu state) and to enable basic analytics. We do not use cookies for advertising, behavioral tracking, or sharing data with third-party advertisers.
We use the information we collect to:
(1) Respond to your inquiries when you contact us through the contact form or email.
(2) Process and confirm contributions when you fund subsidized pickups through our Stripe-hosted donation links.
(3) Improve the website and our services using aggregated, anonymous analytics about how visitors use freemoval.org.
(4) Comply with legal obligations if required by law, court order, or regulatory request.
(5) Communicate about Freemoval’s mission if you opt in to updates, we don’t add anyone to mailing lists without explicit consent.
For clarity:
· We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
· We do not use cookies for advertising or behavioral targeting.
· We do not store your credit card information, payment data is handled exclusively by Stripe.
· We do not use third-party trackers for advertising purposes.
· We do not require account creation to use the site or contribute.
We share information with third parties only in limited circumstances:
Service providers. We use trusted third-party services to operate Freemoval. These include Netlify (web hosting), Stripe (payment processing), and may include analytics providers. These services have their own privacy policies and we share only the information necessary for them to provide their services.
LoadUp Technologies, LLC. Because Freemoval is a program of LoadUp Technologies, LLC, certain administrative and operational information may be shared between Freemoval and LoadUp staff to coordinate subsidized pickups, customer service, and program operations.
Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Freemoval, LoadUp, our users, or others.
Business transfers. If LoadUp Technologies, LLC undergoes a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We’ll notify users of any change of ownership.
Access and correction. You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or request corrections, by emailing hello@freemoval.org.
Deletion. You can request deletion of your personal information by emailing the address above. We’ll honor deletion requests except where we’re required to retain information for legal, accounting, or audit purposes.
California residents (CCPA). California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of sale (which we do not engage in), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. EU/UK residents (GDPR). Visitors from the EU and UK have rights under GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. To exercise these rights, contact hello@freemoval.org.
Cookies. You can control cookie behavior in your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect site functionality but won’t prevent you from using the site or contributing.
We use commercially reasonable security measures to protect the information we collect. The website is served over HTTPS to encrypt data in transit. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, or as required by law. Contact form submissions are typically retained for 2 years for follow-up purposes. Contribution records are retained for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days.
Freemoval is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we’ve collected information from a child under 13, we’ll delete it promptly.
Freemoval is operated from the United States. If you’re visiting from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from your home country.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated via the website. Your continued use of Freemoval after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
